Prices for residential real estate in Portugal is steadily growing. Thus, in January 2016, they increased by 3.66% compared to the same period last year, while the average cost per square meter was € 1047. It is reported by the international real estate portalGlobal Property Guide, citing data from research by the Institute of Statistics Portugal (INE).
So, in the region of Lisbon in January of this year, housing prices rose by 3.69% compared with the same period of 2015, while the average cost per square meter was € 1,266.
Among the cities and regions of the best indicators of the annual price growth showed Barcelos (+ 10.9%). It is followed by Amadora (+ 9.4%), Vila Franca de Xira (+ 7.4%), Porto (+ 7.2%), Odivelas (+ 7%), Maya (+ 7%), Cascais (+ 6.9%), Loures (+ 6.4%), Funchal (+ 6%), Oeiras (+ 5.2%) and Lisbon (+ 5.2%).
The most modest increase in prices was recorded in Coimbra (+ 4.5%), Leiria (+ 4.2%), Vila Nova de Famalichao (+ 4.1%), Almada (+ 3.9%), Braga (+ 3.7%), Setubal (+ 3.7%), Sintra (+ 3.1%), Seixal (+ 2.9%), Guimaraes (+ 2.2%), in Vila Nova de -Gaya (+ 2.2%) and Matosinhos (+ 0.3%).
In general, the price of apartments increased by 3.9% over the period, and villas - by 3.6%.

The total amount spent on foreigners "gold" Portuguese visas in the period January-February 2016, €to 127.9 million, of which €117.1 mn – for purchase of real estate. Only 209 were granted resident visas: 198 for the purchase of real estate and 10 for investments of capital in the economic development of the country.
